Dialogic has prepared a technology brief to discuss the availability of a Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) solution using a Dialogic® 4000 Media Gateway (DMG4000 Gateway) and the next release of Office Communications Server, which Microsoft refers to as Microsoft® Lync™ Server 2010 Software.

DMG4000 Gateway Operating as an SBA in a Branch Office
UC Requirement: Branch Office Connectivity and Survivability
Unified Communications (UC) solutions can leverage corporate WANs, VPNs, and broadband data networks to consolidate and centralize the servers and software intelligence required to deliver UC services to enterprise workers wherever they attach to the network. While centralizing core UC services is appealing for reasons of efficiency and cost savings, deploying an integrated device at the branch office premises is still necessary for local service connectivity, as well as the continuity of base-level voice service in the event the corporate WAN becomes unavailable.
Using a DMG4000 Gateway as a Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) with Lync Server 2010 is an excellent solution for providing branch office connectivity and local service continuity in a UC environment.
DMG4000 Gateway Field Upgradable as an SBA
DMG4000 Gateways are already used worldwide with Office Communications Server 2007 R2. Current DMG4000 owners will only need to perform a simple software upgrade to their DMG4000 Gateways to enable a DMG4000 Gateway's SBA functionality and install the SBA server software for Lync Server 2010. Hardware changes will not be required.
