Tax Changes for Shipments to Tennessee
Beginning Saturday, July 1, 2017, ScanSource is required to collect sales tax on all shipments into Tennessee for which a valid Tennessee sales and use tax blanket certificate of resale has not been obtained. As your trusted partner, we want to make sure you’re aware of the tax change, and give you plenty of opportunity to learn more about it.
In order for your Tennessee ship-to order to be exempt from Tennessee sales tax, one of the following must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
before that ship-to order is placed:
- A valid Tennessee resale certificate AND a Tennessee sale and use tax registration for your company, or,
- A valid Tennessee resale certificate for the ship-to party on the order/invoice
Once we receive these documents, we will update your file to ensure that you are not charged Tennessee sales tax. However, if you are unable to provide us with a valid Tennessee resale certificate, ScanSource will be required to collect sales tax on those shipments, effective July 1, 2017. We understand that this may impact your business, so if you have any questions or concerns about this change, please reach out to your company’s tax advisor.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership with ScanSource!
